MILE MARKERS
I TURNED HEARING DIFFERENTLY INTO A DIFFERENT WAY OF LISTENING.
A DEFINING MILE MARKER
My experience as a half-deaf artist helped shape The Sound of Silence, a national AT&T campaign created with Translation and centered on Gallaudet University’s Deaf and hard-of-hearing football players—and a groundbreaking new helmet designed to help them compete.
Then my role kept growing.
I became the voice of the campaign. Then I helped carry its story further through sign language, social media, and TikTok. An idea rooted, in part, in how I experience the world traveled from the football field to Times Square—and far beyond.
It was recognized internationally with a Cannes Lions Silver Lion, a CLIO Gold Award for Partnerships & Collaboration, and a CLIO Award for Audio Innovation—an especially meaningful honor for a campaign shaped by my experience as a half-deaf artist—along with Gold and Silver wins at the London International Awards.
I thought I had helped tell an important story. I didn’t realize, until much later, just how far that story had traveled.
